MY SON IS A SIMPLE MAN---written by Kathy S.
My son is a simple man you see
Loves God, his wife, and his family
He’s grown very strong throughout the years
He stood up to his challenges and conquered his fears
He married his one and only true love
Who was given to him from our God up above
Wise and loving with a gentle heart
He told his wife that he must part
For places unknown and new in his life
This war has sent him away from his wife
To a land that is violent and wants things their way
They showed their uncaring on that September day
My son, your daughter, a little boy’s mom
Were taken away because of those bombs
While families back home pray, worry, and wait
To see if terrorists determine the fate
Of all who we love that were taken away
Because of the bombings on that tragic day
All day I sit here and pray for my son
And hope that soon freedom is won
For his comrades and friends that were chosen to be
In a far away place fighting for our liberty
We pray for them all without hesitation
And for God to guide them through every location
Our hearts feel heavy with worry and fear
As we sit by the phone and we’re waiting to hear
For good news or bad, it doesn’t much matter
As long as our loved one is willing to chatter
Let us know he’s okay and he hasn’t been hurt
But a comrade was shot and fell to the dirt
With blood all around and the deafening noises
We take cover so the enemy avoids us
It was really scary but Mom I am okay
I appreciate your support and I know that you pray
For me and my boys to come home and stay
But we’re doing our jobs here as ordered to do
The sun has been hot and naps have been few
So Mom, now I must go, it’s time for a mission
Its dark and we’ll be using our night time vision
Continue your prayers and all the packages sent
I’ll give you a call the next chance I get
I love you Mom, tell all to take care
We’re all fighting for your freedom there
As I hung up the phone blinded by tears
And think of the memories I hold dear
So please pray for him as you would your own
For him and his comrades to come safely home
My son is a simple man you see
He loves God, his wife and his family
I LOVE YOU, JOE!

Look at the black patch under the U.S. flag .
I'm told that there is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy. 25 in rural Iowa . For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scrolldown and check out the multiple photos. (all angles) of the rock.
I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too.

TWO THINGS!
First, I posted some photos of "your" sons on my blog ArmyMomTimesThree.Blogspot.com --- go have a look and see if your sons are in any of the photos. I've got more but have been too busy to put them up.
Second, would the person who left a comment on my blog under the post "Mom, did you call the President?", regarding Austin's Commanding Officer, please let me know who you are. That comment went straight to my heart and I VERY MUCH appreciate your kind and sincere words. You absolutely made my day! Thank you.

Happy 4th of July
Lets all pray on this special day of independence, for our nation and for our boys to come home soon. Let them know how much we love them, support them and pray everyday for them.
WE ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU!
Dear Lord,Thank you for our soldiers, that are so dear.
That surrender as our servents, to protect this land over here
Give them courage, strength, and a clear and sound mind.
Let them know you are listening, even when they feel alone.
May they always remember their families really are near.
For their family's prayers are constant; every morning and night.
GOD, I pray you will walk with these soldiers, every single day, and every single night.
Where ever they may roam.
And Lord, Please be with them, and bring them back home.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

Theres A Hero
Billy Gilman - There’s A HeroThere’s a flower in the smallest garden reaching for the light. There’s a candle in the darkest corner conquering the night. There is amazing strength In a willing handThere are victories That you’ve never plannedThere’s a hero In everybody’s heartThere’s a fire inside of everybodyBurning clear & brightThere’s a power in the faintest heartbeatThat cannot be denied Go on and trust yourselfCause you can ride the windYou’re gonna take your dreamsWhere’s they’ve never beenThere’s a hero In everybody’s heartGo on and trust yourselfCause you can ride the windYou’re gonna take your dreamsWhere they’ve never beenThere’s a hero In everybody’s heart

Jesus Christ & the American Soldier...
This is short and to the point. Cindy Sheehan asked President Bush, "Why did my son have to die in Iraq ?" Another mother asked President Kennedy, "Why did my son have to die in Viet Nam ?" Another mother asked President Truman, "Why did my son have to die in Korea ?" Another mother asked President F.D. Roosevelt, "Why did my son have to die at Iwo Jima ?" Another mother asked President W. Wilson, "Why did my son have to die on the battlefield of France ?" Yet another mother asked President Lincoln, "Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg ?" And yet another mother asked President G. Washington, "Why did my son have to die near Valley Forge ?" Long, long ago a mother asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem ?" The answers to all these are similar - "So that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness, and freedom." This was emailed to me with no author and I thought the magnitude and the simplicity were awesome. IF YOU DON'T STAND BEHIND OUR TROOPS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO STAND IN FRONT OF THEM!!! Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier; one died for your soul, the other for your freedom

Think we're all feeling a little scared for our soldiers right now...we have to remember to pray for them everyday. Me and my family and friends and their friends, say a prayer everyday at 11:30 (east coast)...Joe prays then too ---
We all want to know, but don't want to know what's going on. The only thing we can all agree on is that we're here to love, support and pray for our soldiers.
We'll always be afraid and we'll always be worried...but we have to lay that burden on God because He wants us to live life not afraid --- we have to put on His full armour and pray and spread His Word --- we have to have faith. No matter what.

In Case You Missed This on the Forum
Saturday I had lunch w/ Kylesmom! We live about an hour and a half away from each other in Florida. Her son was in Iraq with the 172nd last year so she's definitely "been there, done that!"
It was GREAT to talk with another mother who knows exactly how I'm feeling right now. She also shares my concerns about the apathy of most Americans towards the war these days. "War, what war? Oh, that." is what I think non-military-related people are thinking -- IF they even think about it at all.
Another shared topic of concern is our own extended families either complaining about their 'little' problems or NOT caring enough about our BIG problems --- our sons' lives being in danger!
I loved the story of her sister wanting her along when she left her daughter at college. "How will I ever be able to leave her and drive off by my myself?" Excuse me?
